12 Best Escape Rooms in Winnipeg Tried and Tested by Local Thrillseekers

I have something to confess: I’m a junkie—an escape room junkie, that is. There’s something about solving puzzles and looking for clues while the clock is ticking that really gets my heart pumping.

Unfortunately, I soon learned that not all escape rooms in the city are created equal. While some are super exciting, clever, and totally immersive, others are simply zzz.

That’s why I’ve put together a list of the best escape rooms in Winnipeg. Hurry up, grab your friends, and solve these epic challenges as if your life depended on it (because it’s more fun that way)!

Killer Noob Escapes is the only 2-hour escape room in the city! This small business takes pride in delivering quality entertainment that’ll have you coming back for more.

All their rooms are always private—which we appreciate—so no awkward moments with strangers. Plus, they design all their games in-house, so each experience feels fresh and original.

What really sets them apart is their dedicated game hosts. You’ll have a personal guide who watches only your game the entire time, ready to jump in and assist if needed.

If you’re ready for a challenge, we recommend trying The Butcher’s Sins. The story takes place at Homan Meats, a seemingly ordinary butcher shop with a dark twist.

Pro Tip:

For those short on time, check out The Chamber, a no-reservation-required, fast-paced game located right in the lobby. You’ve got just five minutes to solve five puzzles—not easy, but trust me, it’s doable!

Reality Drop is Winnipeg’s first virtual reality escape room, and it’s an absolute blast! With VR, you and your friends or family can work together to crack riddles and uncover hidden clues.

You can fly solo or team up with a group of up to eight. Popular games include Alice, Sanctum, and Chernobyl—each with its own handcrafted story and unique puzzles to solve.

They also offer wireless escape rooms like Depths of Osiris and Pirates Plague for smaller groups of 2 to 6 players.

If you’re planning an escape room party, they make hosting super easy with their event packages that come with the essentials—tablecloths, plates, cups, and decorations. As a cherry on top, the staff takes care of both set-up and clean-up!

Pro Tip:

Wear comfy clothes (casual or sporty outfits), so you can move around easily. Definitely skip the high heels and anything restrictive like short skirts—you’re going to want a full range of motion when you’re trying to escape!

The Puzzler Escape Rooms

The Puzzler Escape Rooms is Steinbach’s very own local spot for escape room fans. Can you escape in 60 minutes or less? There’s only one way to find out!

You can choose from their three different adventures: Mutiny, Sherwood, and Area 51. And while the escape rooms are designed with adults and teens in mind, kids 9 and up can still join in on the fun.

One of the things we love about The Puzzler is that it’s affordable: for groups of 3 or more, it’s just $25 per person. You can also check their website for ongoing promos where you can snag discounted vouchers!

Pro Tip:

If you’re going as a big group, we recommend trying Area 51. It’s the largest room and can handle up to 10 players—ideal for group outings or team-building activities.

Codebreakers is an exciting escape room that has something for kids and adults alike. To challenge your problem-solving skills, they offer four epic escape rooms.

The Kid’s Enchanted Forest is made for younger players—kids get to sneak into a magical forest to save enchanted creatures from the Dark Wizard. There’s an adult version available as well.

Another room is The Tomb of Isadora, which we heard is a bit more challenging than the Enchanted Forest. Don’t worry if you fail to escape on your first try—there’s always a next time!

Grandma’s Attic is another popular option: you search for treasure in Grandma’s old house, just moments before demolition starts. The thrill of racing against the clock makes this a crowd favorite.

Pro Tip:

If you’re coming to Codebreakers with a larger group (more than 8), try their team duels for a competitive twist—the losing team should treat the winning one to dinner!

They have eight unique rooms to choose from, ideal for groups of 4 to 8 players, so grab your friends, family, or co-workers and get ready to take on the challenge together.

As a bonus, kids are not only welcome but encouraged to participate! They’ve created beginner versions of several rooms, including The Pyramid, The Ruins, Los Angeles 1947, and The Castle.

One of the most popular options is Oz, where you and your team must help Dorothy rescue her dog, Toto, from the wicked Miss Almira Gulch before a storm rolls in.

Pro Tip:

Fan of horror? Check out The Mine and London 1888; these rooms are designed to be spooky and are perfect for those who love a bit of thrill and suspense in their escape room adventures!

Each room is packed with puzzles, riddles, and fun challenges designed for 60 minutes of gameplay. They’re also great for team building, pushing everyone to use their unique strengths to overcome obstacles.

One of our favorite rooms is Eye of the Spy, where you and your team must stop a dangerous organization from using a secret space weapon. It’s full of twists and turns—perfect for those who love a good spy adventure (like us!).

If you’re in the mood for something a little easier, try the Enchanted Forest. Lost in the woods, you come across a magical area where a small fairy needs your help to regain her power by freeing her trapped magical orb.

Pro Tip:

Not going to make it to your scheduled booking? Just remember to give them 24 hours’ notice for a refund on your deposit—less than that, and it’s non-refundable.

GET OUT! Escape Rooms

  Fri – Sat: 1 PM – 11:30 PM

Contact: (204) 231-4903

GET OUT! Escape Rooms offers high-quality escape rooms with a laid-back vibe.

They currently offer three fun escape rooms, and we had a blast escaping one of them: Ultimate Game Room. During the game, a mischievous jester kept an eye on us, and our mission was to find all the poker chips to escape.

Note that they’re super family-friendly too, with rooms that can accommodate up to 10 people. Plus, kids under 9 can join your group for free, and they don’t even count toward the group size.

Pro Tip:

One of the coolest things about GET OUT! is their accessibility—you won’t need to worry about crawling through tunnels or climbing stairs. Those who use a wheelchair or crutches, and those who have a stroller or service dog are good to go!

MASK Escapes

Address: 7 – 25 Scurfield Blvd.

Hours: Mon – Fri: 1:45 PM – 11 PM

  Sat – Sun: 10:45 AM – 11 PM

Contact: (204) 202-3800

For 60 minutes, you’ll dive into a world full of puzzles, locks, and challenges that will keep you on your toes at MASK Escapes.

One of our absolute favorites is The Mask of Time; you and your team are out to steal a mystical artifact from a museum, which grants its owner health, wealth, and immortality. The difficulty is moderate, making it perfect for groups of 4 to 10 players.

If you’re into something a little more chilling, try The Cabin—you’re out on a hike when you take refuge in a cabin during a storm, only to realize it belongs to a serial killer. The clock is ticking, and you have 60 minutes to disarm a bomb he rigged.

The atmosphere will keep you on edge but don’t worry. We tried it, and it’s more suspense than horror, with no jump-scares or gore—but it would be best not to bring kids in this room.

Pro Tip:

Make sure to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so you can lock up your stuff and get the pre-game briefing. Games start on time, and if you’re late, you might lose some precious playtime!

Escape Social offers immersive and bilingual escape rooms that are great for all ages. Players can choose between playing the game in French or English—just let them know in advance.

Their Escape Vault 2024, set in a post-apocalyptic world, is a must-try. It’s the year 2277, and you and your team are in a vault that’s now failing—it’s up to you to restore power, fix the system, and escape.

Planning a special event like a birthday or bachelor/bachelorette party? You can book multiple escape rooms and party spaces, so everyone can take turns escaping while enjoying the game space between rounds.

Just remember, groups larger than 10 will need to split into smaller teams for the escape challenges.

Pro Tip:

Come on Tuesdays, when the usual group minimums are waived, so you can bring just 2 or 3 people. Plus, you’ll score 20% off your booking!

Enigma Escapes has 12 unique escape rooms across 3 convenient locations. Some of their popular rooms include solving a murder during Mardi Gras, exploring Poseidon’s undersea world, and escaping Blackbeard’s Brig.

We tried the Butcher of the Catacombs, and it had our hearts pounding. Set in Paris, we were on the hunt for a notorious serial killer hiding in the dark, twisting Catacombs beneath the city—whew!

Note that most of the rooms here don’t require any physical activity like crawling or climbing. The only exception is Raven Woods, which is geared towards those with full mobility.

They also handle kids’ birthday celebrations; they offer special party rates, with fun menu options like chicken fingers, mac and cheese, or mini-burgers. Plus, the birthday kid’s lunch is free!

Pro Tip:

You can save money by booking early week and daytime games for smaller groups at a reduced price—check their website for more details!

With locations in Morden, Altona, Brandon, and Winnipeg, Elevaro Escape Rooms has a variety of themed rooms that challenge your wits and teamwork. We met the owner, and he’s incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Try their Time Bound escape room, where you and your team get stuck in the future. Your mission? Fix the broken quantum accelerator and make your way back to the present before you’re lost in the space-time continuum forever.

We also tried The Checkmate Room, which was fun, but it might be a bit too easy for experienced players. Still, it’s a solid option for beginners or those looking for a lighter challenge.

For a little friendly competition, check out World Domination, which features two identical rooms perfect for racing against another team. Time is of the essence as you face off against an evil mastermind who controls the world’s power grid!

Pro Tip:

If you’re planning a date night or a small gathering, don’t miss King’s Crown. Designed for 2-4 people, you must find the missing crown before the King arrives, or risk being banished from the kingdom.

Going to The Escape Hatch is not just any ordinary outing; it’s an exciting physical adventure game that brings together friends, family, or coworkers in a race against time.

We played in the Dr. Villainous’ Lair room, and we were given just 60 minutes to prevent a doomsday device from wreaking havoc on the world. It was an adrenaline-fueled race, and our ability to work together was put to the test.

For something spookier, try The Riddle of the Vampire, where the townsfolk are buzzing about a lurking vampire, and Van Helsing needs your help. Don’t worry—the room is more fun than scary with no jump scares, making it safe for ages 12 and up.

Got a packed schedule? No problem! They offer off-hour bookings to accommodate your busy life, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

Pro Tip:

Make your friends or family heroes of their own escapades by purchasing a Gift Certificate from The Escape Hatch!
