Local Dancers Handpick 9 Best Dance Classes in Winnipeg for Every Skill Level
I recently attended a local dance showcase to cheer on a friend who had just started dancing a year ago. I was excited to see her in action, but I wasn’t expecting to be amazed!
When she took the stage, it was like she’d been dancing her whole life—every move was on point, and she displayed this effortless grace.
It was a reminder of how dedication, passion, and, most importantly, the right dance classes can truly transform anyone into a skilled performer.
Inspired by her journey, I’ve rounded up the best dance classes in Winnipeg to help you find the perfect place to start (or level up) your dance adventure!

Groundwork Dance Studio is a great place for families looking for a friendly and inclusive spot to introduce their kids to dance. We love their programs designed to fit all abilities, from children new to dance to those who have special learning needs.
Their classes, including ballet, hip hop, jazz, tap, and acro, are created by experienced professionals. In fact, their director brings 30 years of dance training, having grown up as a local competitive dancer and trained at Edge Performing Arts Centre in LA.
Plus, their small class sizes allow teachers to focus on each child’s learning style, so every student gets the support they need to grow at their own pace.
Pro Tip: If your child is a Swiftie, he or she would want to Shake It Off at the Swifties Dance Camp for ages 6-10! This full-day camp mixes dance styles like ballet, jazz, and hip-hop with fun activities inspired by Taylor Swift’s music. |

Kids Etc Youth Movement Company (KEYMC) is Winnipeg’s largest dance studio ( a whopping 11,459-square-foot facility!). They offer dance classes for everyone—from curious two-year-olds to experienced teens.
We’re quite impressed with their top-notch dance floors; they use a special Marley surface on a floating subfloor that helps absorb shock. This means fewer injuries and more comfortable dancing.
The studio also offers a variety of classes, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, lyrical, modern, musical theater, and even programs for adults and preschoolers. With class sizes of about 15 students, each dancer gets personal attention and instruction.
Speaking of instruction, one of their star teachers has earned global recognition. Jessica made it to the top eight at the World Dance Championships, so you know you or your child are in good hands (and feet?)!
Pro Tip: For those looking for more, KEYMC’s Summer Series is a must. It features workshops with both their regular instructors and guest teachers, giving dancers a chance to try new styles and techniques. |

For little ones, her studio has creative dance, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, and lyrical classes. A great option for 4-year-olds is their Storybook Ballet, a 45-minute class that uses children’s books to bring ballet to life.
Adults, on the other hand, can choose from ballet, modern, Pilates Plus, ballet fitness, or their popular Hopakercise class. Hopakercise is a fun, high-energy workout created by Kristina Frykas that mixes pilates, ballet, fitness, and Ukrainian dance.
We highly recommend taking advantage of their early bird promo. If you pay in full by a specific date, you’ll receive a 5% discount!
Pro Tip: Another cool bonus at Kazka is their family discount—a great way to get everyone involved in dance while saving money. If multiple family members are taking classes, you get a 2% discount for each additional person. |

For kids aged 5 and up, we think the “Petite” classes are a great way to dive deeper into dance. Your child can choose between a Ballet and Tap combo class or a Jazz and Hip Hop combo class.
Teens aged 12 and up can choose from jazz, open tap, ballet, and lyrical. The instructors help teens find their fave type of dance while giving them the skills to grow.
